MEMORIAL OF SAINT CHARLES BORROMEO: It would be good to give to the poor what you would have spent for supper on a fast day, out of love of God. Take delight in the works of mercy, in almsgiving, visiting hospitals, jails, and the sick and helping the poor in every way possible, especially those in greater need. Seek membership in some pious association for pious works, or some company of spiritual men, so as to perform some pious work and to keep yourself well occupied, especially on feast days. With whatever little or much God has given you of resources, and with labors and your own sweat where resources are lacking, be prompt to help the churches, especially your parish which is your own church, for its adornment and every other need, so they may be decent and beautiful, as is fitting for the house of God.When you see your neighbor in some manifest sin or about to fall, do your duty of fraternal correction or admonishment, with charity and discretion, so as to win him back.-- Saint Charles Borromeo ...
